Slow-mo video indicates Ricky Stenhouse Sr. punched Kyle Busch first

Last night after the All-Star Race, things turned into quite a mess between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. NASCAR has a way of bringing out the emotions in everyone, including the dads of drivers.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started the fight with Kyle Busch. However, it was Ricky Stenhouse Sr. who was there trying to finish it. What looked like a chaotic scene where Busch initiated things with Stenhouse Sr. turned out to be something else.

Once Stenhouse Jr. was knocked to the ground by security, Stenhouse Sr. grabbed Busch and then swung at the NASCAR driver. Busch was then seen swinging back at the elder Stenhouse.

Here is the thing – drivers fighting, cool. It’s fun. Most people love it. When pit crew members and family members get involved? Not so much. And just as an aside, security needs to chill and not get involved so soon. Let these drivers figure it out.

Unfortunately, there were a lot of other people involved in this incident. If I were a betting man, I’d say that Ricky Stenhouse Sr. is going to get some sort of suspension or have his hard card pulled completely by NASCAR.

Kyle Busch never got a chance to retaliate against Ricky Stenhouse Jr. So, we’ll never know what this could have been. One thing is for certain – these two completely stole the show.

Kyle Busch welcomed to his hauler by Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

This was all set in motion on Lap 2 of a 200-lap event. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gets dumped into the wall by Kyle Busch early for some incidental contact. Busch felt like Stenhouse almost wrecked him. So, he got his get back quickly.

From that point, it was on. Stenhouse Jr. didn’t just say it once, he repeated it multiple times – there is no tunnel at North Wilkesboro, so he stuck around and waited. He even parked his car in Busch’s pit stall and told his crew chief he would be waiting.

Truly an amazing feat of anger and holding a grudge. 198 laps of waiting, and he was still fighting mad.

I think, like most fights in NASCAR, this had more to do with a culmination of things than just one incident. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. talked in an interview after the fight about how Busch constantly talks bad about him. Finally, the disrespect was enough for Ricky.

Kyle Busch had to fight not one Ricky, but two. For that, he gets some bonus points. What is bizarre to me is the fact Busch didn’t seem to believe Stenhouse would do anything. He stood there and let it happen. After being told not once, not twice, but up to three times – you should probably take the guy seriously.
